Three BPP Emeriti will be honored as College of Agricultural Sciences Diamond Pioneer Awardees; Dallice Mills, Mary Powelson and LaRea Johnston. The award honors people whose lifetime contributions to agriculture, natural resources, and the people of Oregon and/or Oregon State University have been significant.



Kristen Finch, a doctoral student in the Department of Botany and Plant Pathology with major professor Andy Jones, spent last summer as a volunteer at the US Fish and Wildlife Service Forensics Lab in Ashland, OR. She reported on her work at the Forest Legality Alliance Annual Meeting in Washington, DC........



Bruce McCune of the Department of Botany and Plant Pathology received The Acharius Medal for lifetime achievement in lichenology.....



Brian Atkinson is a doctoral student with Gar Rothwell and Ruth Stockey in the Department of Botany and Plant Pathology. He recently won Best Student Talk at the Botanical Society of America 2016 meeting......



Mike Behrenfeld of the Department of Botany and Plant Pathology,and part of the science team involved in NASA's NAAMES project recently hosted their annual meeting at OSU.....

Two 2016 STEM Summer Camps on ‘DNA Biology and Bioinformatics’ for Entering Grades 8-12, were conducted from June 27-July 1 (Basic level camp) and July 11-15 (Advanced level camp) with faculty from the Department of Botany and Plant Pathology including Pankaj Jaiswal, Jeff Anderson, and Jeff Chang...



Jeremiah Dung, of the Department of Botany and Plant Pathology based at the Central Oregon Agricultural Research Center in Madras, OR, received the APS Pacific Division Early Career Award at the annual meeting in June....



Dr. Ihsan Al-Shehbaz, an international expert of the Brassicaceae (mustard family), visited BPP May 10 - 16 as a guest of the Oregon Flora Project. He is authoring the floristic treatment of the Brassicaceae for Volume 2 of the Flora of Oregon.



Navneet Kaur is a post-doctoral scholar in the labs of Jeremiah Dung (COARC) and Ken Frost (HAREC), both faculty in the Department of Botany and Plant Pathology. Kaur has been awarded a Western IPM Center Project Initiation Grant looking at potential biocontrol options for ergot....



Nik Grunwald, a courtesy professor in the Department of Botany and Plant Pathology and Research Plant Pathologist at the ARS-USDA Horticultural Crops Research Unit in Corvallis, will become a Fellow of the American Phytopathological Society at this summer's annual meeting......



Aymeric Goyer and Ken Frost in the Department of Botany and Plant Pathology, are among faculty based at OSU Hermiston Agricultural Research and Extension Center to receive a grant to train future leaders in integrative biosciences for sustainable food and agricultural systems.....
