BOTANY MAJOR TO TEST HIS EXPERIENCE IN SENEGAL, WEST AFRICA

This September, Rolando Beorchia, OSU Botany major (2013) will be taking up a two year assignment with Peace Corps in Senegal, West Africa. As a Botany major and after graduation Rolando worked in the Jaiswal group in BPP contributing to building a Plant Reactome and investigating abiotic stress tolerance in Poplar. Since then he had been working with Bureau of Land Management working with invasive and native plants. Rolando has always wanted to use his knowledge and love of plants for the betterment of the world, and he hopes Peace Corps service in West Africa as an Agriculture volunteer, working with the local farmers in improving sustainable agricultural practices will enable him to achieve just that.
