This week the kick-off meeting for BPP BUDS Program took place and was a great success. Four graduate student organizers: Sus Theis, Brian Atkinson, Jade Florence and Joey Hulbert, through BUDS, have matched 17 BPP undergraduates with 17 BPP graduate students!

The program has been put together over the past few months and began last week when students were invited to apply to participate in the program.  The organisers visited 4 BPP classes to introduce the program and hand-out applications to the undergraduates. They also introduced the program to the Botany Club. Applications allowed them to pair undergraduates with graduate students based on academic interests, personal hobbies, and program preferences.

At the introductory meeting everyone was introduced to their BUD and gathered ideas for group activities. Students seemed especially interested in touring labs led by the grads in the program and so with the approval of the PIs, the first activity will bring BUDS students together to tour 3 or 4 labs in BPP.
