JAMIE COGGINS IS AWARDED BPP OUTSTANDING SENIOR 2013

Jamie Coggins, pictured here with her nephew, is a botany major who will graduate this coming June.  She has spearheaded the BPP Club as President this academic year in various fund raising activities for the annual Spring Break Trip. This year they stayed at the Siskiyou Field Institute in Selma, OR and took field trips around the botanical highlights of southern Oregon and northern California. Jamie learned some of her leadership skills being on the OSU Division 1 women’s rowing team – sometimes in the stroke seat.

To support her education and to gain different lab experiences, Jamie has worked as a student lab assistant in the labs of Ken Johnson and Jennifer Parke. Recently she has also been working as an Intern for Dr. John Henning in the USDA-ARS Hop Breeding and Genetics program. This experience has developed Jamie’s interest in the hop industry and she hopes to continue in this field after she graduates in June.

Congratulations Jamie, and thank you for your contributions to the Department!

The Outstanding Senior Award is made possible by the Bill and LaRea Johnston Undergraduate Endowment.
