Research Area

Plant systematics and comparative genomics.

Description of Research

My research focuses on the application of genomics to plant phylogeny and speciation. Major topics of current investigation include 1) phylogenomics of milkweeds (Asclepias) including the sequencing of the A. syriaca genome; and 2) comparative genomics of Rosaceae and the strawberry genus (Fragaria) and 3) phylogenetic studies of pines (Pinus) and the pine family (Pinaceae).
