Research and Extension Area: Diagnosis and disease management in vegetable and field crops.

  • Primary interests include pathogen biology and disease management. Research emphasis is on the integration of cultural and chemical practices with alternative strategies, such as biopesticides, for suppression of diseases in field and vegetable crops. Current research projects include studies on diseases that affect specialty seed production of vegetables, flower, and field seed crops. My current emphasis is on black leg and light leaf spot in crucifer crops.  I also have a stong interest in soilborne diseases with pathogenic Fusarium species my primary target.  We are currently investigating Fusarium crown and stalk node rot of corn as well as wilt diseases in flower seed crops.
