I leverage observations from remote technologies, together with numerical models, to inform our understanding of ocean biogeochemistry from polar to global scales.

Specific research interests

  • Quantifying the Biological Pump using satellites
  • Assessing uncertainties and performance of lidar and ocean color satellites
  • Understanding drivers behind phytoplankton processes underneath sea ice
  • Mapping extreme events (fire, volcanoes) and how they shape ocean biology and biogeochemistry

Biography

I leverage observations from remote technologies, together with numerical models, to inform our understanding of ocean biogeochemistry from polar to global scales.  I advocate for cross disciplinary work, especially with artists and lawmakers, to engage ourselves with the importance of marine science to society.
