Originally from the East Coast, Maria attended Bridgewater College in Virginia where she received a B.S. in Environmental Science and a B.S. in Biology. After living in Wyoming for a time, she moved to Wenatchee, WA for a plant pathology internship at a WSU Extension Center. She then completed her Masters in Natural Resources at the University of Idaho and moved to Oregon in June 2019 to begin working at Oregon State University's North Willamette Research and Extension Center. She is passionate about plant pathogens, especially fungi and bacteria. She is excited to educate nursery workers and growers about the steps they can take to prevent plant loss due to disease. She is thrilled to call the Pacific Northwest her new home and can be found horseback riding, hiking, and trail running in her free time.
