Jerry Weiland

I am a research plant pathologist working for USDA-ARS in Corvallis, Oregon. The goal of our laboratory is to conduct applied and basic research that helps growers control nursery plant diseases. Our research approach is to identify and better understand the pathogens that are causing disease so that we can use that information to develop effective disease control strategies.

Specifically, our objectives are to:

1. Identify the plant pathogens causing disease in nurseries.
2. Determine whether or not existing disease control measures are effective.
3. Investigate how environment and plant production practices affect disease control.
4. Develop improved methods for controlling diseases of nursery plants.
