Course Registration Basics
- New Corvallis campus students must attend a START orientation to receive advising and their registration PIN. New students register for the classes during their meeting with the advisor.
- New E-campus students follow the E-campus getting started steps. After completing and submitting the E-campus orientation form and the Botany orientation form, you will be contacted by a Botany advisor with guidance on registration and receive your registration PIN.
- Students changing major to Botany need to email a Botany advisor for consultation before receiving a registration PIN.
- Continuing students will receive an email from the Office of the Registrar detailing when they can register or you can Check Registration Date and Time. Registration status and times will be available approximately two weeks before registration begins.
To view your assigned registration date and time:
- Step 1: Log into Beaver Hub
- Step 2: Select the Academics tab
- Step 3: Under Academic Resources, click Check Your Registration Status.
- Step 4: Select the term, click Submit
Registration Holds: If you have a hold which prevents registration, you must first take the steps necessary to clear the hold before you can register. You can review the common registration holds website for more information.
Contact your advisor for PIN and course review: The Office of the Registrar assigns registration PINs and times to students by Week 5 of the current term for the next available registration term. After Week5, you can email your advisor for course review and request a PIN.
Course registration overrides
We may provide an override for course registration to students based on their needs after approval from the course instructors. However, enrollment in some classes is restricted by the laboratory capacity or transport capacity if field trips are included. Thus, overrides are not guaranteed. Here are the common scenarios when student may need an override.
Capacity override for a BOT class: we may provide an override to a graduating student, who would not have opportunity to take that class prior to graduation date. If you have any other urgency, you can provide reason for your request.
Pre-requisite overrides for a BOT class: when the system does not recognize the biology series transferred from other institutions and student encounter an error during registration. In other cases, if an advisor has supported student’s request citing evidence of competency and need for override of a certain requirement.
Submit the appropriate form for an override request for a BOT course:
Course Registration and Override help form (these forms will be directed to botany.advising@oregonstate.edu )
Botany override policy
Overrides must be requested by submitting an appropriate on-campus or e-campus form. Submitting a request does not guarantee an override will be granted. Someone will review your submission and issue you an override if needed. You will be notified via email when your override has been processed and you can register for the class. It may take up to 3-5 business days to process.
